This is true, and I often hear people say that they like the way the industry looks. But you know what? There is so much more to this industry that I wouldn’t want to know more about. Even the best companies have a core of good employees that are not always happy, and there is a lot of negativity that comes with working in the industry.
One thing I hear a lot from people is that the industry is so much more than what they are seeing on the screen. They may have a great idea that just doesn’t work, or they might not have a good idea, but they still feel like they are on the right track because they are seeing things that others can’t. I guess those things are similar for most companies.
I hear this a lot too. The problem is that many of us who work in the industry don’t have the luxury of getting to see things from another angle. When we work with developers, it is rare to get the chance to see what they see in their heads.
I think the industry is very good at giving us glimpses of what is on their minds. Just think of the many times you have been to a company and you have seen their offices, or maybe even seen their staff. You can see their faces, but you cant see what their brains are thinking.
Because of this, I think the industry has been under a lot of criticism for having a distorted view of what the game is all about. Its one thing to be able to see a product in your head, but you dont have that same access in the industry. Its also tough to see things from a different perspective, or at least not to the extent that many games have.

The problem is not everyone that has a distorted view of a game. I for one have no problem criticizing games that are bad. As we say in the industry, “bad game = bad product,” but I think we should all just stop this madness and just play our games.
I have a personal problem with that. For a game to be good it has to be fun. Good games must be able to entertain. It is not enough to make a game fun, it has to be fun to play. Not fun to play with friends, or at parties, or with the family, or in your garage, or in your basement, or on the Internet, or at your coffee table.
So if a game can’t entertain you, or your friends, or your family, it is not “good,” it’s “bad.” That’s what we say in the industry. But what if we said, “We’re OK, it’s just a bad game.” Would that make it better? Not really, but at least we wouldn’t be saying this game sucks.
We are aware that people will say, “Hey, I had a great time with the game,” or “I found something I liked in the game,” or “This game is good for me.” Those people are the ones that have never played a game. They’ve never played a game for more than 30 minutes. They’ve never played a game that took a lot of concentration, or a lot of time, or to the point of frustration.
