My friend, and fellow artist, John, was visiting from New York and he showed me this play set that has been made for his daughter. I was intrigued by how the play set has been constructed. I immediately thought of this: how would I make a tunnel that could be used to create a tunnel for a child, and then a tunnel that could be used for a toy tunnel! I had to get this idea into my head.

In a perfect world, I would have made something like this myself. However, I was out of time and money so I did the next best thing.

It’s a little sad to see a kid’s play set in a store, but I guess it’s understandable, as there is a lot of pressure on parents to spend money on their kid’s toys and supplies. The play set has been built using a tube of foam that was cut and shaped into a tunnel and filled with some foam and a bit of latex paint. It’s still very much a work in progress for all the holes and imperfections that need to be addressed.

The play set itself is incredibly well-designed and incredibly easy to build. There are a good amount of steps to achieve the whole thing, but after you’ve got it all down you have to figure out which play set is best for certain situations. Some of the more popular play sets include the Star Wars: Death Star play set and the Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back play set.
