I’ve actually decided to make a site specifically for industry reviews. I think the concept is great and I’m not sure how many of you guys have been involved in the industry for over a decade. I think I’m going to change this, though. I think I have a bad habit of leaving out the good stuff and getting all the bad stuff in the back. In most cases I am not sure what to say.

First, focus on the positive and the good. This is a great idea because the industry is very, very competitive and this is a great way to increase traffic. Secondly, focus on those that you truly care about.
One of the things I like about the industry is that it’s actually more diverse than just about any other industry I’ve ever had the pleasure of working in. Sure, the biggest names in the business are the ones that are the most visible. If you want to make a name for yourself in the industry, you have to be visible. If you want to gain popularity with the readership, you have to be the most compelling.
This is the second time I’ve heard someone say this. I’m glad to have it said because it goes to the point I was trying to make. The internet isn’t a bunch of “cool” people. It’s a bunch of people who may have a lot of connections but who may not be very active. They’re the people who are the most active in the industry. If you want to gain any sort of popularity, you have to be the most active in the industry.
There are certain things that you can do to make yourself more likely to be heard by the readership: be active online, be the most popular, be the first person to respond to a message, have a blog, write articles, or make guest posts. In addition, you have to have a pretty large following. If you just have a few hundred followers, you will never be heard by the industry.
